Muzaffarpur, October 25, 2026: Redevelopment work at Muzaffarpur Junction’s platform 1 is expected to move into a new phase from December 1, with an 84-day block sought to carry out construction. The plan is part of the station’s ongoing redevelopment project and could require changes to train operations and platform use during the work.
About 450 metres of platform to be handed over
A report by Dainik Jagran said around 450 metres of platform 1, from the old enquiry office towards the Narayanpur end, is planned to be handed over to the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) on November 30. The construction schedule was reportedly adjusted to avoid the heavy passenger rush during Chhath.
Train operations may be adjusted
During the proposed block, trains that normally use platform 1 may be operated from a designated section near the parcel office, while platforms 2, 3, 4 and 5 may see increased use. The exact operational plan and train-specific changes should be confirmed through official railway announcements before passengers travel.
Railway offices may also be shifted
The report says officials discussed possible relocation options for the cyber police station and the railway property store (malkhana) currently operating on the station premises. The final arrangements depend on decisions by the relevant railway and police authorities.
What passengers should do
Passengers travelling through Muzaffarpur in December should check current train status, platform announcements and official East Central Railway updates before departure. The 84-day period has been reported as a block sought for the work; travellers should not treat every schedule change as final until the railway issues a formal notice.
