Madhya Pradesh received fresh investment proposals worth more than ₹5,800 crore in semiconductors and technology during the MP Semiconductor Summit 2026 in Indore, according to figures cited by the state government and reported by Financial Express. The government said the proposals could create more than 10,000 jobs, but the figures represent proposed investments rather than completed spending or jobs already created.

Separate land-allotment proposals also announced

At the two-day summit held on October 23 and 24, the government also issued letters of intent for land allotment to five companies with proposed investments of around ₹9,625 crore. These projects were expected to generate more than 4,450 direct jobs in Bhopal, Indore and Gwalior. The two figures describe separate sets of proposals and should not be treated as one confirmed investment total.

Focus on chip design, electronics and advanced technologies

The summit brought together industry representatives, investors, academics and start-ups to discuss semiconductor manufacturing, chip design, advanced packaging and testing, electronics manufacturing, data centres and technology research. The state said it plans to develop a Semiconductor Centre of Excellence and a Centre of Excellence for Photonics and Quantum Technologies.

Representatives from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Sweden were among those attending. Taiwan also offered support for training young people in semiconductor technology, according to the Financial Express report.

Execution will determine the economic impact

Investment proposals can signal interest, but their impact depends on final agreements, land and regulatory approvals, financing, project timelines and actual construction. The proposed job figures should therefore be viewed as potential outcomes, not guaranteed employment. The next key indicators will be formal project commitments and progress toward implementation.
