New Delhi, October 25, 2026: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said German companies are exploring ways to expand their business in India, reflecting continued interest in the country as a manufacturing and investment destination. The remarks follow his recent meetings with German officials, industrial leaders and research institutions in Berlin.

Manufacturing and technology among key areas

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said Goyal’s meetings covered trade, investment, advanced manufacturing, research and emerging technologies. Discussions with business leaders included potential cooperation in healthcare technology, engineering, industrial manufacturing and mobility-related sectors.

Research collaboration also on the agenda

Goyal also held discussions with representatives of selected Fraunhofer Institutes on microelectronics, power electronics, logistics, smart manufacturing, industrial innovation and battery technologies. The ministry said the conversations explored ways to strengthen links between research institutions, universities and industry.

Business opportunities, not confirmed investment pledges

While the engagements indicate interest in deeper economic cooperation, the official summary of the visit did not announce specific new investment commitments, project values or timelines. Potential opportunities will depend on company decisions, commercial feasibility and the broader trade and regulatory environment.

Why the relationship matters

India and Germany have been working to strengthen trade and industrial cooperation, including amid ongoing India–EU trade discussions. Closer ties could create opportunities in technology transfer, manufacturing, supply-chain diversification and joint research, provided discussions translate into concrete projects.

Potential business expansion and exploratory discussions should not be interpreted as confirmed investments unless companies or authorities announce formal commitments.
