Mumbai, October 31, 2026: Sun Pharmaceutical Industries reported a sharp year-on-year decline in its second-quarter profit, mainly because of a one-time charge linked largely to its planned acquisition of Organon and provisions related to India’s labour code framework. Revenue, however, continued to grow.

Reuters reported that consolidated net profit for the quarter ended September 30 stood at ₹1,989 crore, compared with ₹3,118 crore a year earlier. Revenue rose nearly 12% to ₹16,199 crore.

One-time charge weighs on reported profit

The company booked a one-time charge of ₹1,269 crore. Excluding this charge, Reuters reported that profit would have increased 6.3% to ₹4,428 crore.

India business records growth

Sales in India, Sun Pharma’s largest market, rose 17.3%, while US sales declined 8.2%. Specialty drug sales increased 6.9% to $356 million and accounted for 21.1% of total sales.

The results show the impact of acquisition-related and other exceptional costs on reported earnings, even as the company recorded growth in revenue and its domestic business. Investors will continue to watch the integration and financing implications of the planned Organon acquisition.
