Mumbai, November 3, 2026 | Updated: Reliance Industries shares surged 11.6% on Monday, November 2, marking their strongest single-day performance since April 2020. The rally helped lift the BSE Sensex by 1,233.25 points to 75,692.78, while the Nifty 50 advanced 387.70 points to 23,440.80.

The sharp move followed Reliance’s September-quarter results, which showed a strong recovery in its oil-to-chemicals business and continued growth in telecom. The stock closed at its session high and was the top gainer among the Nifty 50 constituents, according to Reuters.

Google searches for Reliance share price jump

Interest in the stock also spiked online. The Times of India reported, citing Google Trends, that searches in India for “Reliance share price” surged by more than 5,000% during the rally. Search interest is a measure of public attention, not a recommendation to buy or sell the stock.

What the September-quarter numbers show

Reliance reported consolidated profit of ₹29,550 crore for the July–September quarter, including its share of associates and joint ventures, up 33.8% year-on-year. Net profit attributable to the company’s owners rose about 40.6% to ₹25,548 crore. The distinction matters because the two profit measures use different accounting scopes.

Reuters reported that stronger refining and petrochemical margins supported the earnings beat, while the telecom business also improved. Retail profitability remained comparatively weak, a point analysts said investors will continue to monitor.

Sensex and Nifty close near session highs

Reuters reported that the Sensex rose 1.66% and the Nifty gained 1.68% on November 2. The Economic Times put the Sensex advance at 1,233 points and said the rally added more than ₹8 lakh crore to the market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies. Thirteen of the 16 major sectors tracked by Reuters ended higher.

Falling crude prices and broader earnings optimism also supported sentiment. Brent crude slipped from a recent six-month high, while market participants weighed global developments and expectations around possible tax changes. Those expectations were not confirmed policy decisions.

What investors should watch

Investors will be watching whether the earnings momentum continues, how refining margins and crude prices evolve, and whether Reliance can improve retail profitability. A one-day share-price surge does not guarantee future returns. This article is for news and information, not investment advice.
